History

Bethanië Godsheide

The building complex was formerly used as a place of reflection for priests. This explains the complex layout and is seen as a small maze of corridors and rooms. The Jesuits' original goal was to create a warm welcoming atmosphere. Both the exterior and interior contain traces of the previous monastery building. The brown brick is continued from outside to inside the living spaces .This brick should be preserved, just like the wooden windows. In the living space, permission was granted to paint one wall white.

Previous layout of the building:

  • Play and recreation rooms
  • Management and secretariat
  • Chapel and kripte (in direct communication with the three areas mentioned above)
  • Retreat quarter: 34 rooms, refectory, living room, conference and meeting rooms
  • The guest quarters: ten double rooms
  • The residence of the Fathers (8 rooms, living room, refectory, consulting room, meeting room, library)

Renovation

About 17 years ago, the campus Godsheide was renovated. Together with a design firm, the logo was modified. Based on the color palette of the logo, each living group was assigned its own color. These colors appear in both the logo and the interior, mainly in the kitchen. While educators appreciate creativity, there is a need for change. The most important thing is to create a living space that is unified, radiates warmth and provides a confidential place to restore the bond between child and parent.
